As four of us walked
and three succumbed to giggles
I strained to suppress
my percolating joy
when I called his name
he greeted me, just me
with an unrestrained bray
leading my emotions astray
as I ran to him, arms stretched open
to cradle his neck
and rub my face against
the breath of his nose
his charms overwhelming
my sense of decorum
while astride his back
his owner, with a resigned smile
indulged my love
for his exuberant equus asinus
better known as his ass
who savored the grass of my caress
